Why some shops want billing that stays inside the shop
Offline POS software for Windows is what many owners ask for first. Some have no reliable internet at all. Some have been burnt by a subscription that stopped when a payment failed. Some simply want their sales figures on a computer they own, not on someone else’s server. And many are used to paying once for software, the way they paid for their old desktop billing program.
Cartix Prime Offline is for them. It is a separate edition of Cartix Prime, not a setting in the online app.
What Cartix Prime Offline is
- The same app on your own Windows computer. One computer in the shop is the main computer. It holds the shop’s own database. Nothing leaves the shop, and billing never needs the internet.
- More counters on the shop’s Wi-Fi. Other computers and phones connect to the main computer over the shop’s own network, securely. They pair by scanning a QR code or typing a code shown on the main computer.
- A one-time licence for the main computer, plus a yearly update plan (AMC). Yearly add-ons, such as van sale, can be added.
- Daily automatic backups of everything into one file, with a second copy to a pen drive or a Google Drive folder, and an optional password. Restore is done inside the app.
- A 30-day trial with everything. It needs the internet once, to activate. After that, only the licence checks in when the computer happens to be online. Bills and stock are never sent.

What is not in Offline
Some features need the internet by their nature, so they are not part of either Offline edition:
- the online shop, the customer portal, table bookings, scratch cards and Scan & Go
- more than one branch
- the WhatsApp Business API and AI bill reading
- the AI shop assistant, the supplier app and van sale Pro
WhatsApp still works in two ways. WhatsApp links open WhatsApp with the bill message ready, and WhatsApp from this computer lets the Windows app send waiting messages from the shop’s own WhatsApp, slowly, never as campaigns. That second way is not WhatsApp’s official route: you turn it on at your own risk after reading a warning, because the number can be blocked.
How it works in a shop with three counters
- Install Cartix Prime Offline on the computer that will be the main computer. Connect to the internet once to activate the 30-day trial.
- Import your items, customers and suppliers from Excel. Columns from Tally, Busy, Marg or Vasy exports are recognised.
- On the second and third counters, open the app and pair with the main computer by its QR code or code. They now bill into the same database over the shop Wi-Fi.
- Set the daily backup, with the second copy going to a pen drive or a Google Drive folder.
- Bill for a month. Before the trial ends, buy the licence and the yearly update plan.
Keep the main computer on a UPS. The other counters depend on it, the same way they would on any shop server.
Offline edition or the online app’s offline mode
The online Cartix Prime also keeps billing when the internet goes: bills stay on the counter and go to the cloud when the net is back. That is explained on offline billing software. The difference is where the shop’s data lives and how you pay.
